Elections in 2008
One does not have to look far to be reminded that
2008 is a Presidential election year.
Town Clerk Jan Bodart wants to remind everyone that
voter registration is now a mandatory part the process. If this
is your first time voting in Pittsfield, or the first time since the
mandate came down from the state, be sure to bring along
your identification as you will have to register at the polls. Feel free to contact her with questions or to register early. You can reach her at 822-3409.
2008 ELECTION DATES
- Feb. 19th Presidential Preference Primary and
Spring Primary for Judicial Offices
- April 1st Spring Election for Judicial Offices
- Sept. 9th Partisan Primary
- Nov. 4th General Election
Snow Removal
Just a reminder that when removing snow from your
driveways it is inappropriate to leave it in the road way. Often
when people push snow at the street, it trickles from the side
of the blade and leaves little piles across the street. Understand
that you may be held liable if someone was to hit these
piles, loose control and end up in an accident. Secondly be
sure not to put large piles in the ditch lines. This compacted
snow acts as a dam during melting and can cause flooding.
Much of this just involves being a good neighbor.
New Zoning Administorator
The town recently hired a new Zoning Administrator
to replace retiring administrator Jerry Wesolowski.
Cindy Hendricks from Quarry Drive has stepped
up to fill the open position. Cindy brings with her a
background in business where she had to deal with zoning codes as well as a background in government
(she is also the current Pulaski School Board President).
You can contact her at: 822-5348
USDA Assistance
The US Department of Agriculture recently
informed the Town of their Rural Development
program. It is available to assist very low income
single family homeowners to improve or repair
their homes.
Grants are available for the elderly to remove
various health and safety hazards. Examples
include electrical, handicap accessibility, insulation,
roof, windows, and others. Home improvement
loans are also available to include similar
purposes but additionally provide assistance to
modernize a home.
If you are interested and think your household income maybe fit in the appropriate limits,
please contact the USDA office at 715/524-8522 ext 4 for additional qualification information.
AED's Needed
AEDs or Automatic External Defibrillators
can literally mean life or death in
the case of a heart attack. Currently the First Responders in Pittsfield do not have this valuable tool.
In order to fill this void our First Responders
are asking for donations to purchase
one of these devices. They cost
around $1500.
If you are interested in assisting in
this need please contact your board members
for information or funds can be sent
directly to the Clerk, marked “AED”.
